A court has issued a ruling against the public broadcaster TVE and its program ‘Mañaneros’, determining that inaccurate information was broadcast regarding the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. The judgment concludes that the content aired did not meet the standards of accuracy required in news reporting.
The decision also involves journalist Javier Ruiz, associated with the program, as the court found he played a role in disseminating the disputed information. According to the ruling, the claims presented during the broadcast were not properly verified, resulting in a violation of Ayuso’s right to honor.
The case stems from statements made on the morning show, where issues related to Ayuso’s political management were discussed. The court determined that these assertions lacked sufficient factual support, prompting legal action from the regional leader.
As a result of the ruling, TVE will be required to comply with measures aimed at addressing the harm caused. The case highlights once again the importance of rigorous fact-checking in journalism, particularly when reporting on public figures.
